Jersey Julie, born in New York City, and raised in New Jersey, was given her stage name at age 23, as she became a known musician/singer and new-comer at the open jam scene in the south and west sides of Chicago. One night, the players in the house bands "crowned" her with the name Jersey Julie and she felt so loved to be accepted by these great experienced players, the name stuck like molasses.
Jersey Julie started dancing, performing & singing at the age of 5 & playing the sax by age 8. At this early age Julie knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life.
Her first professional performances began by age 8 in Atlantic City and on off-Broadway. She grew up between NY & NJ, & in the southern USA with family & music everywhere: blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, folk, gospel, funk, music of New Orleans, Broadway, Classical, Motown, etc… Julie’s playing credits range from Cyril Neville, Lucky Peterson, Robert Randolph, Derek Trucks, Tinsley Ellis, Jimmy Thackery, Bill Perry, Walter Wolfman Washington, Mudcat of Atlanta, Bob Stroger, Tony Allen and so many legendary heroes and heroines of the blues from all around the USA.
Since 2000, she's been touring the USA and Europe, non-stop in 100s of clubs, theatres and well known festivals across both continents. Notable festivals include Chicago Blues Festival, Freedom Creek Festival in Alabama, Blues To Bop Festival in Lugano in Switzerland, Cognac Blues Passion, Cahors Blues Festival France, Jazz & Blues Rallye Luxembourg, Hamburg Blues Festival, Black Sheep Festival Germany, Eutin Blues Festival Hamburg Germany, Jesień z Bluesem Białystok ...
Julie has recorded 2 highly acclaimed albums, Goosebumps 2012 and Multiball 2020 (currently being remastered and will be re-released in 2024) with members of the Jersey Julie Band.
